Domestic Violence is not a new problem for our community, however the AAFV is trying to educate the
community to be more aware of the problem. The Alliance is working to be more helpful for victims and
their children. And striving to find a way to decrease the incidents in our community.
As the agency wishes we could share each individual story of the people we assist there would not be
enough room. Instead we have to give you numbers to have an idea of the amount of great work we do.

- There were 21 domestic violence murders in Kansas in 2006. There were 123 murders in Kansas in
2006. - One domestic violence murder occurred in Kansas every 17.4 days.
- One domestic violence incident occurred in Kansas every 22 minutes and 48 seconds.
- Law Enforcement in Kansas made one domestic violence arrest every 41 minutes and 36 seconds.
- Leavenworth County had 742 of the 23,077 domestic violence incidents for the State of Kansas.
This is 3.2% of the state total. Leavenworth makes up 2.2% of the state population. - 14,114 victims were female and 5,747 victims were male.
- 2,730 victims were under 19 years of age.
- 36.96% of victim/offender relationships were boyfriend/girlfriend.
